Thank you from the Board of Directors of Friends of Commonwealth Swim Club,

We are excited to share that Friends of Commonwealth Swim Club has officially completed its first full year! We are deeply grateful for your generous support, which has allowed us to launch this new nonprofit.

For those who may be learning about us for the first time, Friends of Commonwealth Swim Club is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to strengthen the community by providing charitable resources that help the Commonwealth Swim Club—and, in time, other neighborhood pools—continue to promote recreation, wellness, and lasting community bonds.

Thanks to your contributions, we awarded two grants this summer. The first provided a replacement refrigerator for the guard house—just in time for opening weekend! The second honored the memory of longtime member Cindy Baker with a new memorial bench.

Looking ahead, we plan to expand our grantmaking to support additional needs. Please consider a donation to keep the pool as a center of community life. You can be confident that 100% of your gifts go directly toward grants. All operating expenses—such as our website, post office box, and state registration—are covered by contributions from the Board of Directors.

I’m thankful for our board members, Chris Shipley, Kevin Curtin, Anastasia Swearingen, Julie Benson, and Bix Benson, who helped get us off the ground.  We are looking to expand our board so that we have voices from across our community helping to guide the reach of Friends of Commonwealth Swim Club. If you would like to know more about the role of a board member, please reach out to me or speak with any of our existing board members.

On behalf of the entire board, thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us make such meaningful progress in just our first year. We look forward to growing together in the years ahead.

Swim On!
